Typing things out tends to take more time for me, and drawing/scribbling tends with pen/paper helps me. there are a lot of arrows, boxes, and bubbles floating around. I get in a lot of conversations where ideas get thrown around and this leads to that. I'm not stenographer, but I can hold my own. I am one hell of a typist, and I still find handwriting faster. If the note is too long I quickly scan it, or snapshot it with my camera phone and attach it as a JPG or PDF.Īnd I don't just do this in my 9-5, I'm also on a couple non-profit boards of directors, and one profit board as the secretary. I can also write without looking at a screen (to be fair, I can type without looking at a screen), but I find if you have to look at a screen you take yourself away from the conversation at hand. Not sure how fast you can type, but I can take a legal notepad and get it into my task list in only a couple minutes, taking the relevant points into consideration. I was hoping something like this might change the game.
But I really have a hard time taking notes with pen/paper. and honestly its easier to send out my notes/action items after the meeting. With OneNote, I've never lost anything put in. but do you have to ever convert notes to action items? If so, do you think it would be faster and more productive to just start digital? In a timed race, I was able to find the 3-ring binder with the correct info on my shelf faster than anyone could find the correct word/excel/onenote file on the correct drive/share/computer and display it. Closed binding, numbered pages, and a quadrille grid so you can make sketches easily.
